Eskil Steenberg is inviting you to try his unique multiplayer online game Love for free this weekend. If you were interested in it but didn’t want to take the plunge before playing, now’s your chance. The game normally costs 10 euros for 30 days of playtime.

Has anyone actually played this before and thought it was worth the continuous payments?

I just can't bring myself to pay subscriptions for a game…

My biggest complaints with the game are as follows:
A. It is really easy to fall down a hole and get completely lost.
B. It can be hard to see where you are going due to the art style. This compounds problem A.

Whenever those two aren't getting in the way, the game is actually rather fun, but they tend to completely ruin it when they're at their worst. Without some solution, I probably won't be playing again.

It's so hard to find this game without any help. I eventually found the official site through the blog that was linked here (googling love or love pc game gives nothing relating to this game. Hard to find youtube videos too. It's an unfortunately named game it seems) but nowhere on that site is there a listing of minimum system requirements. I get a black screen after the logo but it's hard to tell if my computer just can't even run the menu or if there's a problem with the game.

I always wanted to try this game but having to buy a subscription right from the start always rubbed me the wrong way. I don't mean that in a selfish “I deserve to try this first” kind of way but the game was hard to understand. It felt so conceptual. It feels weird to say that because I'm most likely talking solely of the art style and while I think it is beautiful, it seems to skew the message of the game.

I do wish this game and its creator the best of luck. Any reports on how well this game is actually doing?

He should charge a one time $15 or $20 and let people run their own servers. I enjoyed this game enough to buy it, but I only buy games I do not subscribe to them.

I haven't tried it but I probably would buy it if I could own the game and host my own server for family/friends. I'm sort of over paying subscription prices, having done so for 11 years now.

This is not minecraft; trust me, I've played both recently, so it's fresh in my mind. This is really fun when the graphics aren't getting in the way. That's the problem; nice as the graphics are, the game would play better if they were crisper and the outlines more defined.

I would love to only buy this game once and play alone until I understand or on my own server, but I will never subscribe ! Like in minecraft for eg.
Because I didn't understand a lot of the game play.
That's sad because I have waited to play this game for so long !
Plus my video card was crappy I needed to set the low end mode or I didn't see anything. Make it simpler on some point (like the interface or the plot).
Should have review the tutorial video but unfortunately has many I don't have a lot of free time (that's why I won't pay for 30 days only).
Too bad, this game could have been so much fun but I'm just dumb ^^
