    This game looks pretty intense!

I remember playing the beta of this

For those who didn’t;  this game is going to be GLORIOUS.

  • Adamski

looks really nice. But the trailer is so typical. Stop the music, show a big boss roar and continue with action…

    Looks fantastic!

  • SirNiko

What platform(s) will this be available for? I thought I read it will be on XBox, is it also coming to PC? The trailer and website are both unclear on this point.

Loved watching this one develop in the forum thread, looks amazing.

I can’t stop thinking, considering how jaw-droppingly gorgeous the graphics are, why have they only given the main character’s flying animation 6 frames?!
I’ll still be buying this, as long as it’s not PS3 exclusive or something like that. Can’t wait :D

The gameplay looks pretty standard but it’s SO PRETTY. That’s good enough to get me hyped!

  • Phubans

    Pixelicious!

I am excite! Been watching this one for a while.

Met these guys at GDC and they were super friendly.  Hope the last stretch treats them well; this game has been in dev hell far too long.

I agree on the flying animation, if any Owlboy artists happen to be reading.  :P  Failing more frames (or in addition) a bit of “swoopy” faux motion blur can give a surprisingly good effect.

The music is also pretty fucking rad. Very nice theme, very well written and gorgeous.

  • Davioware

Seriously, the music is just AMAZING. It’s kind of like.. dunno, John Williams with a hint of Zelda flavor?

    ooh, pretty…

I’m gutted that they’ve given up on Project Rhapsody, but if this plays as great as it looks I can just about forgive them for that.

  • Nikica

    PC and Xbox 360.

  • Piecewise66

I’m pretty sick to death of 2d indie side scrolling platformers, but this one looks like they’ve put a lot of work into it (or at least have a good artist on their side). We’ll see.

  • Rekcahdam

Wow… I’ve been waiting for this game forever it seems. Finally we’ll be about to play it!

  • Snow

Well, I surmise that the flying animation is only at 6 frames to give the game more of an authentic 16 bit look and *feel*. I like the animation.

This game is beautiful and that it has been in development so long only suggests that the creators are going for top notch quality. :) I’m looking forward to it.

The gameplay looks retrolicious, as well as the pixel art.

  • gamecreator

Looks fun.  Side question: what is this type of music called?  I guess it could be considered soundtrack genre or something.  Any ideas?

  • Davioware

    soundtrack, or orchestral.

Looks and sounds great! I’m glad they apparently went full orchestral with the soundtrack now, instead of a mix of orchestral and synth. Yes, Daft Punk showed that it can be used to great effect, but in the 2008 gameplay video it just didn’t work for me.

“a mix of orchestral and synth. Yes, Daft Punk showed that it can be used to great effect”

Hopefully we didn’t have to wait for Daft Punk to show us what has been continuously done better and deeper by Jerry Goldsmith and others, mixing synths with orchestra (while actually knowing how to write for orchestra) since the 1960s.

  • Redicius

why is there pikachu in the Olwboy logo ? :D

Windows only, or will there be Mac and Linux versions as well?

  • https://launchpad.net/~smaxein Medo

You are right of course. The Tron Legacy soundtrack was simply the first example that came to my mind, probably because it is a fairly recent one.

  • HelloFace

Because the graphics are jaw-droppingly gorgeous.  Jaw-droppingly gorgeous means jaw-droppingly time consuming.  Plus, they probably didn’t want to give the main character smoother animations than they could possibly have time to give the other characters as well.  There appear to be a lot of supporting characters in active roles, so a good balance seems justified.

  • RancidShamble

The D-pad Studio link is broken, btw!

But I am very excited for this game :)

  • Roger Levy

    Pretty, boring game.
