Resonance, by Wadjet Eye Games

Resonance is a new adventure game from Wadjet Eye Games, known for their Blackwell series as well as The Shivah. The story takes place after the death of a brilliant physicist, whose work included potentially cataclysmic technology. You control four characters simultaneously as they work together to stop a disaster.

Although Resonance is a classic 2d adventure game, it does feature a “memory system” that sounds pretty unique. Acting almost like a second inventory, the system allows you to collect temporary and permanent memories to use in conversations and puzzle-solving.

I’m not saying what I feel either way (and this is OT) but why does everyone hate Fez and Phil Fish so much?

  • gorf

Same reason people bag on Spore; Fez took a hundred years to come out, and when it did, it was “pretty good” rather than “holy fuck”.

I wouldn’t even call it “pretty good”. If fez had come out of nowhere with its somewhat cool spin feature, some would have said “not bad”, or “cool, a paper mario type oldschool game, it’s free right?… But it’s been around for ages… with the nice minimalism graphics, multiply that by several years of development, resulting in a lot of hype… but really, it’s just an oldschool looking game that spins and has no enemies.

People hate Fish because he made public his disdain for the Japanese gaming industry. He hates modern Japanese games and thinks they all suck, for lack of a better description. Then, on his Twitter account, he was never shy to spit back at his haters. Add to this the fact that Fez, to some, isn’t totally “indie”: it got backing from Microsoft (but only after Fish completed a prototype on his own and shopped it around, whereupon it won awards).

I don’t really have a problem with Fish, but that’s pretty much the case.

Any guy who tells me to suck his dick doesn’t deserve my respect.

  • falsion

Watch Indie Game: The Movie and how he threatens to murder a man in cold blood like a raving psychopath.

The “suck my dick, choke on it” remark is just the tip of the iceberg. I really can’t see HOW you can respect such a guy.

Gee, there sure are a lot of comments about a different game here, where it should be about this game here.

    Talk about this game, guys!

Yeah, no matter how you try to rationalize it, or how you objectively explain it… everyone’s still pissed at how such guy can spit down on the community that supported him. Everyone who he tells to “choke on his dick” are mostly the people who were able to appreciate his old school (easier to do) graphics, and his paper mario spinning feature. And after enough hype was created for him, and he gets support by microsoft, he suddenly tells everyone to give him a blowjob. What a pompous ass. He got his “15 minutes of fame”, and used it to act like pretentious m*therfucker, and that’s how he will be remembered like.

I’m not trying to rationalize it. I simply just don’t care. I don’t care to know the guy and I have no interest in playing Fez. But if people want to hate him then I understand perfectly and I’m not going to stop them.

Phil Fish could salvage his reputation by buying all us poor f*ckers a copy of Resonance.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. I’m gonna just shut up and download the demo for now.

Awesome game. I’ve started getting to the point where you need to use all of your “party members” to solve the puzzles, it’s a really cool idea. And I just love the little touches on everything, in particular the GUIs for all of the computers, terminals, etc.

One of the finest adventure game in recent time is this resonance game. The kids and even the older will like this game as because of the ending moment of it.
