Retro is cool, and you know it. Even big name directors are getting into the game with Transformers and Speed Racer remakes.
Information about G-Force can be found over at bob’s site, and the2bears previewed it about a week ago.
Look forward to a release sometime next week.

Description:
Beast Invaders is a hack of Space Invaders. This hack was created by Jeff “Yak” Minter, who’s been creating games for various platforms since the early 80s and is probably best known in the Atari community for his work on the Atari Jaguar. Currently obsessed with giraffes.
What’s different:
Enemy sprites have been changed into cute, furry animals.
Beast Invaders 2:
Not Jet Set Willy Online. (DAMN!)

...because (apparently) it does seem like none of the twenty-odd TIGSource editors are playing the game. So I’ll just post the entire comment instead of selective quotes.
“Uplink: looks rubbish, but is a great idea, and executed well. This is what indie games should be about – putting concept over content.
Darwinia: I didn’t go for the ‘It’s all wireframes, because you are in a computer’ excuse for graphics, but, I did go for the game, which was fun. More points to Introversion.
Defcon: This is like the opposite of Uplink – zero content, style over substance. There’s no game here. Mainstream reviewers are idiots, they want to make people think they are cool and hip, so they bang on about this game, which just isn’t very good at the end of the day. It’s too late for the reviewers won’t admit they’ve been sold a turkey. Still, respect to Introversion because they seem to be able to sell it pretty well. I agree it’s good for other indies as Introversion’s exposure casts a small light on the scene.”
“That’s just one opinion though, and I seem to be in the minority.”
Raiden said it, so it must be true. Plus, it’s fatal to argue with the god of thunder.

I still think kids who spend too much time playing military-based FPS should consider joining the army instead for a real-life experience, if not for the discipline. Ignore me if it doesn’t apply to you, or if you think I spout misinformed statements.
Oh yeah, Fun-Motion writes about Blast Miner.
Honestly, what’s the deal with Line Rider anyway. Either I “don’t get it” or it really is a waste of time.

Garage Games has released the Torque Game Engine version 1.5. (For those of you who don’t know, the Torque Engine is a comprehensive 3D game-centric SDK targeted at independent developers.)
Some of the bigger additions to version 1.5 include an integrated 3D lighting kit, expanded Mac support, and new art tools and assets. All this comes with a larger $150 price tag (for indies), though previous owners may upgrade for a smaller fee.
Check out the Torque Game Engine site for more detailed information on the engine, some games made with the engine, and specifics of the 1.5 upgrade. OR ELSE.

Zombie Smash is an action-game-in-the-making by Eric Vaughn, a guy who is notorious for starting awesome projects and never finishing them. So yeah, to say I’m skeptical about this one would be an understatement. But oh! If he did finish it, that’d be great, because he’s a superb pixel artist and his stuff that I’ve managed to play has been really fun.
I’ll add him to the active development list and see if maybe that won’t help him finish this one.
Are there any other good Halloweenie-type games worth mentioning right now?
