Introducing: TIGTumblr!

By: Derek Yu

On: December 3rd, 2012

I’m excited to announce the official TIGSource Tumblr, which is easily accessed by the “TIGTumblr” button on the navigation bar (where the now-defunct TIGRadio button used to be). Of course, if you are a Tumblr user you can also just follow us and get our updates straight to your dashboard. We’d love it if you did!

Now, you may be asking why we have a tumblr AND a front page… well, let me try to explain!

TIGCompo: Sports

TIGSource Sports Compo

After almost two years without a TIGCompo… we finally have a new TIGCompo. The theme? SPORTS.

Since it’s been awhile, let me just provide a quick overview: the objective of a TIGSource Competition is to make a game (or two) in the allotted time (in this case, a month). There are no prizes involved, but a number of the previous entries have become successful commercial titles, like Envirobear 2000 (Cockpit Compo) and Realm of the Mad God (Assemblee Compo). The main thing, though, is to have a good time with your fellow entrants and try to finish something!

With so much potential in the theme of SPORTS, I think this is going to be a good one. Let’s do it! (And happy Hallowe’en!)

Underrated Indie Games II: Under the Radar

Underrated2

After months of effort, Underrated Indie Games II was wrapped up a little while ago. It is part of moshboy’s endeavor to bring attention to overlooked indie games. The videos in this new addition to his series cover a 100 games of a wide variety to give you a glimpse of what you might have missed.

To continuing working in this direction, moshboy has also released Oddities, which is “very much a continuation of Underrated Indie Games in blog form.” It already has a hearty selection of games that has been growing over the weeks. And if you like anything in Underrated Indie Games II or from the original series, Oddities should be worth your while to keep a tab on.

Legend of Grimrock, by Almost Human

After four months of hard work the Legend of Grimrock team has released a level editor beta for their first-person dungeon crawl. Due to Steam’s rapid updating capabilities, the editor is currently only available for players who own the Steam version of the Grimrock. To try it out, right-click on “Legend of Grimrock” in your Steam library and select properties. Then click on the “Betas” tab and opt-in to begin downloading the editor.

Almost Human says that it will be available for all distribution platforms after the beta is over.

Comiket 82: Preview Video

By: Derek Yu

On: August 7th, 2012

This is a video that mashes up quite a few trailers for doujin games that will be available at this year’s Comiket (Comic Market), a Japanese self-published comic book festival (and the largest in the world, with half a million attendees last year). The video was put together by Edelweiss, a doujin game developer that created Ether Vapor and is attending Comiket 82 with a new shoot ‘em up called Astebreed. The festival is taking place this weekend on August 10-12.

Links to each of the games featured in the video are available here on Edelweiss’s website.
