Xoda and Smiling Darn - Noitu Love 2

Did you guys love the music from Noitu Love 2 as much as I did? If so, be sure to check out Joakim’s website for the original soundtrack! It includes all the songs that were in the game, plus 8 bonus tracks that didn’t make the cut.

In case you were wondering, Joakim composed the songs himself, because, like all good Swedes, he drank magic Swedish elf water when he was growing up. It makes you incredibly talented at developing video games. (Although one in ten Swedes who drink magic Swedish elf water turn into Finnish Trolls… which are able to develop video games but ironically will explode if they try to play them. A sad fate for a Swede.)

  • Hideous

Erik Svedäng fell into the vat of magic water when he was a kid.

  • Melly

Damn you Swedes and your game designing powers!

  • Joola

I’ve noticed it is rather many swedish indie game developers for being such a small country (befolkningsmässigt).

  • Petri Purho

I’ve never heard of such an insult. To suggest that Finnish game developers would be of Swedish origins. Huhhuh…

I’m so not visiting this place anymore…

  • Shuger

Derek are you making fun of Finntroll? You will not be forgiven this insult! This is a great band which name was featured in Metalocalypse – the ultimate metal cartoon. BRUTAL! ;P

    P.S. I love you Murderface!

  • Pragma

The Swedes have *always* been good at this stuff – just look at the demoscene. They’re practically on their second or third generation of uber-leet hackers by now, so I think there must be some kind of breeding program in the works. Either that or their school system rocks out in ways that have yet to be revealed to the rest of the developed world.

  • konjak

The mainstream development houses aren’t much to cheer for, though.

    Thanks, Derek!

  • xerus

A very good person at everything in life is named Konjak.

  • Tantan

    These are awesome in Audiosurf.

  • muku

Some of the best musicians also come out of Sweden. I really have no idea what’s the thing with that country.

  • Kongming

You know how geniuses and great artists often come from troubled backgrounds? Sweden is basically one giant dysfunctional family.

  • http://www.djshardhouse.com Starshot

Definitely going on my MP3 player.

  • xerus

Yeah, Konjak, Cactus, what the fuck do they put in the water over there?

  • http://doomlaser.com Golds

Don’t forget Niflas and Petri. There must be more.

  • xerus

Theres the dude that made Fret Nice, I forgot his name… but yet another awesome guy.

  • Albert Lai

Those Swedish magicks must include being able to make parachute pants form-fitting.

  • konjak

    Petri is just from wannabe-Sweden

  • Splinter of Chaos

I have a theory! They take skilled people, extract DNA, and put them in steroids, then give them to athletes!

(A reference to an episode of Outer Limit, the worst sci fi I’ve ever seen (sometimes).)

  • Petri Purho

Typical Swedish thing, trying to steal credits from Finland… Like the time you told everyone that Linus Torvalds was from Sweden.

  • gustav

    HE IS!!!

    wait, who?

  • Mr.Kio

We Swedes are awesome. Now it’s just for me to actually release something and get huge and famous like all my other Swedish comrades…

    :(

  • Lim-Dul

I have updated the tags and filenames in the soundtrack to make them look nicer in various players and on your HDD. =)

I have also analyzed the tracks with the MusicIP Mixer to generate PUIDs that will appear in the MusicDNS.org service in ~2 days and will be usable with programs like MusicBrainz Picard Tagger and other programs using the MusicDNS and/org MusicBrainz.org DBs – I also stored the PUIDs inside the files themselves to make them portable. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about just ignore all of the above. ;-)

You can download the file directly from my server:

  • Data

Finland is just a province of Sweden, anyway ;)

The really high concentration of computers in the country is probably a big factor.. I read some stat earlier that the computer/household ratio has been among the highest in the world for a long time.

  • gustav

i think it’s cause it’s so fucking cold, we’ve got nothing better to do than to sit in and make games.

  • ben2theedge

And they have more time to work on them because they days are so long.

  • http://www.g4g.it FireSword

DICE (among others bf1942, bf2) they are swedish and they started (if i remeber correctly) as indie developers with a flipper game for amiga.. ops i mean pinball game ;)

    hej dÃ¥ vänner… xD

  • Valkyrie

Sweden is the bomb. They’ve got death metal, socialism, and freaking awesome indie game devs.

    A corporate CEO’s worst nightmare.

  • Lim-Dul

And yet again my post has been eaten by the mighty “don’t you dare to post useful links” filter. ;-)

  • TwiTerror

    +1 for soundtrack promotion :D

  • Jäd

Sweden was also awesome at the Eurovision song contest when young-and-upcoming comedian Björn Gustavsson appeared to announce the points and looked utterly disoriented and spoke with an exaggerated swedish accent just to fail pronouncing Bosnia-Herzegovina (didievenspellitright?) and then proceeded by giving

“the twelve points go to … sschweeden. … … Norway.”

(: We’re the only country that attempts to give ourselves points in the Eurovision song contest :D Yayforus!

  • Geoff

This needs to be encouraged to be done for all indie games, will make 8-bit music poular again!
