Shooter Kings

Around September of 2007, insertcredit‘s Brandon Sheffield arranged a meeting of the abstract shoot ’em up minds in Tokyo, to talk about everything from bullet patterns to the Japanese “doujin” game scene. The transcript of that discussion went live today on Gamasutra (link), and it’s a fun one! It’s cool to hear, for example, Jon Mak ask Kenta Cho how he feels about random behavior in games. More of this, please!

OMG! O.O That is so freaking awesome! Also, I belive that’s the first picture of God I have seen. Wasn’t there some rule about not taking pictures of God in the bible? Well, I guess it doesn’t apply to the shooter God after all.

Is Kenta Cho = God still true? I thought most people had converted to Cactus :).

  • Derek

Indie Games is definitely not a monotheistic religion. ;)

  • BeamSplashX

    Derek Yu = Archangel Gabriel

  • Joshua

    Definitely a good read.

  • Bob Saget

    This made me laugh:

JM: You use ACID [Music Studio software] right? You use ACID?
KC: ACID? Yes, I use ACID.

Kenta Cho was laughing throughout the entire interview. He seems very friendly and good-natured.

Was a video of this discussion recorded? The little voices I imagine in my head as I’m reading are most likely inferior to the real thing.

@BeamSplashX – Technically, Gabriel is just a messenger. The archangel is Michael.

No, I know it doesn’t matter; I’m just being an ass.

  • BeamSplashX

Ah well, Derek is certainly something of that caliber (.45ACP).

    lol@Jon Mak.
lol@Thinking that a basic shooting game with trippy backgrounds is good game design.
