Do you remember Bronzemurder? Well, here’s another graphic saga from Dwarf Fortress, penned by the talented Tim Denee. Mark my words, the legend of Oilfurnace shall not soon be forgotten by dwarf or humankind.
Tarn should remake Dwarf Fortress' graphics system so there could be a graphics pack in this style.

Heh, a local games magazine here in Australia (PC PowerPlay) ran this in the magazine a month or two ago. Looked glorious as a four page printed spread but some of the text was a bit small.

I wish that Strike The Earth print were available in a t-shirt because I would totally own it then.. but I'm not really interested in buying a piece of paper.

Excellently brilliant this one. Just like, well, the other one.

Fantastic, this is the sort of thing that makes me want to play Dwarf Fortress. It's a pretty daunting game for someone who's never touched it really D:

@ Winterous I felt the same way. heres what you do 1. get a build with graphics. 2. start watching Captain Duck's video tutorials 3. learn how to use the dwarf fortress wiki. its amazing how once you get over the first hurdle how you can just build on what you know. I was building pretty good fortresses in less then 2 weeks, and I was playing a little here and a little there.

I agree and was thinking the same: this tastefully illustrated story (along with my love for dwarfs in general) makes me want to learn how to play this extremely complex game. I think I'll finally give it a go.
Seriously! …If Dwarf Fortress even looked close to this there would be buckets more players than one could count! …And, oh, the donations would flow!
…Of course, he has to actually make good on his statement about getting around to adding basic full tile support when the game gets too complicated for the ASCII graphics alone to cut it (which it has…like ages ago) first. …Don't hold your breath. >_>

This comic totally inspired me to pick up DF. I got a little unhealthily obsessed for a few days but grad school and two jobs intervened, and I haven't gone back since… I've probably forgotten everything I learned :(
