(And yeah, I know I'm a couple days late with the “weekly” report post, it'll be up presently; probably within 12 hours.)

Only now that it is over can we judge A Game By Its Cover.

I had more fun watching the video compilation than I did playing most of the games. I'd hoped for higher votes for Sandy Evolution though. It's the only one I still play.

Nice showcase. For anyone who likes the first tune in the video, that's the eponymous “I, Cactus”. I think it's an ancient/so-good 8 Bit Peoples release.

… oh I get it now, “Cactus”. Har!

first time I've seen the video compilation, it looks great.

funny how while playing my towlr he uses the arrow keys to move the thing, I totally forgot to turn those off.

Congrats to Farmergnome – a solid win. Perhaps you should mention that he won in the post?

Ya, Under the Garden looks pretty darn good. I remember seeing a preview of it a while ago and really liking the look of it but I never did download the version that was available. Now that it's finished I think I'll go download it. It very loosely makes me think of a 2D Side-scrolling Minecraft game with the resource gathering and managing.

After checking out the “A Game By Its Cover” contest page I'm going to have to download a few of these when I have the time. Lots of interesting tidbits in these games. Enough games there to dive into and cover at least a couple dozen coffee breaks.

Good work to everyone who participated! And as Jasper said earlier, congrats to Farmergnome!

Keep the games coming guys, even when there isn't a competition going on :-)

This competition seems to have produced quite a few gems. Hope to see more of this bizarreness in the future!

This the first anyone has ever made a video of one of my games. ;)

one of the reasons i don't enter contests like these is that i know i'll be one of the 5 guys with 0 votes at the end :)

  • Mike Hunt

There's nothing particularly wrong with that, is there? :D
