Ville Mönkkönen, the creator of the cult-hit survival game Notrium, has announced that his latest game, Driftmoon, is available for pre-order at €11.99 (20% off the final price). People who pre-order will get access to the alpha version of the RPG, the game’s editor for making mods, and all the updates thereafter. The latest build adds a new adventure to the playable preview that was released nearly a year ago (since taken down).

According to the announcement, Driftmoon is still some months away from release.

Oh man. I really wish he would tilt that camera ten degrees. It's already 3D, so why the nauseating camera angle?

    Looks great otherwise, though.

development? really? maybe you meant release

    Yep! Sorry about that.

It could do without the constant fly noise.

  • Ville Mönkkönen

That's true! Actually I've already tuned it down since the video, it's only audible when you visit the fly.

I have followed Ville´s games for a few years. I actually know him, well in all honesty I know the SILENT part of his group (the modest part) quanrian. The truth about the project is that at first they were making a game called CORMOON, but Ville stamped out whatever creativity the other guy put in, basically put him in his place, and decided to go ahead with this project instead. Suffice to say that from what I've heard, hes a bit hot headed about it. Nonetheless, I hope the project does well, as I was a great fan of Notrium and what little of Cormoon we actually saw.

On a side note, I see Ville is lurking this forum as we speak! Hey Ville, I hope all is well, and I have a proposition for you for some time in the near future if you are interested.

Hmm, I think that the way I wrote the last post might make it easy to be misconstrued. It makes Ville seem… vile… It's not actually the way I wanted it to sound. Let me rectify by saying that they had creative differences (from what I gather), regarding the game that the other guy was vouching for, and decided to scrap, and re-hash, using the resources pooled from the previous one. Sorry about the wording in the previous one. What I was going for was, A:) Ville has Zeal B:) Quanrian is quiet, modest, but get going, and easily adaptable to Ville's work and C:) If the initial project is any sign of things to come, the full game can be expected to be awesome.

And D:) A few years ago I spoke to Quanrian and Ville about a project, I think that it might be right up their alley, and I have the neccesary funding AND the LP needed for it. If they are interested all they have to do is let me know and Ill send them a quick rap sheet.

looks could be some sane amount of fun, I hope they'll release a demo too

@Tiamat: Yes, it was very unfortunate that me and Quanrian couldn't finish Cormoon, I think our plans on that were a little bit too big for two people. But who knows, we could go back to it someday… Also, I'm interested in what you have to say about your proposition, I'll mail you.

@Giuseppe: The demo will be out some time later. I'm not revealing the time yet… ;)

Just wanted to confirm that as suspected Ville is a stand up guy! He just mailed me and we are talking about the proposition at this moment. Hope you guys like indie MMO games!
