Dwarf Fortress Tale: Matul Remrit

No meme intended, but too long, didn’t read.

It didn’t really grip me as much as boatmurdered.

This is all very nice, but why is it a minecraft ripoff?

This was an entertaining read.  It takes a little while to get entertaining in part because a lot of the cleverness is in running jokes.  See: elf hate, medical room, Mittens the cat.

The article on Link-Dead’s demise a few days ago got me thinking about how much emergent-gameplay games rely on player creativity.  That really deserves to be explored more.

It tries a bit too hard to make up a metastory in my opinion.

I prefer something like boatmurdered where the game itself makes up the story.

It’s an impressive piece of work, but it lacks the appeal of other DF inspired stories. As much as I enjoy it when a game like DF inspires someone to make such a detailed fan work, I must apologise as I have one (EXTREMELY GEEKY (and ultimately inconsequential)) complaint.
What happened to the all the beards?! What kind of monster would depict female dwarfs (and some male dwarfs) without beards?! I mean I’m all for being against stereotypes, but the beard is a quintessential dwarf feature. ESPECIALLY for female dwarfs.
A dwarf without a beard isn’t a dwarf. It’s a burly Hobbit.

PS: “Just Trolling” comments are worse than the trolling itself. I make  _point_ of taking people at face value on the internet (obvious sarcasm and parody not included), because if they’re not being genuine, they shouldn’t post. Also, I was kinda assuming this was a parody, not trolling.

It’s nice, but… I kind of agree, it’s more “dwarf fortress inspired” rather than actually being based on dwarf fortress.

Also, I’ve read to the end of year 1, and nobody’s been mauled by zombie elk yet. Needs less “day by day” things and more of the interesting. This is a bit like reading twitter.

It was too long before anything interesting happened.  Which would have been fine in a nice text-only post, but I found it too annoying to read.  That one that was posted awhile back (not boatmurdered, the one with the pretty storybook-like art) was great, though.

Oh, yeah, I read that.  Thanks for pointing out the ridiculousness of the claim that Minecraft was a DF ripoff.  And thanks for reminding me again more than a week later!
