All five games in Spiderweb Software‘s Geneforge saga are now available on Steam as a $20 bundle (currently on sale for $15). The series takes place in an original fantasy world dominated by Shapers, powerful mages who can create life from scratch. Like many of Spiderweb’s RPGs, the Geneforge games are known for their deep storylines, flexible skill system, and tactical, turn-based combat. The first game was released in 2001 and the final game was released in 2008.

Yeh, kinda surprised there’s not more comments, but it is a pretty old series. I had never heard of it before, but loved the iso-look and it reminds me of Ultima (and Fallout of course). And $3 a game really is a steal, especially taking into account how much story and work is put in there. Even the first game is pretty polished for an indie title.

Geneforge 1 was the first indie game I was introduced to and I still enjoy the hell out of it. I agree that there is quite a bit of depth. For each gam that I have played (1-3) there are several different paths you can take, where your decisions will actually make a difference. If you have the money to spare, definitely worthwhile.

Spiderweb Software has to be my favorite indie studio by far, I’m so glad they’re finally getting on steam :D
