Teaser – Star Command

The teaser trailer for Warballoon Games’ Star Command has landed, giving us a glimpse into the fantastic pixel art of their upcoming spaceship-management game.

Star Command allows players to take control of a starship in humanities distant future. Players build their ship, staff and manage their crew, explore the galaxy, battle other species, discover far off worlds and attempt to control the universe.

The game is scheduled to launch this summer on iOS and Android devices, but the developers have plans for a future, “Ultimate” PC version as well, which would include “all the campaigns, all the expansions, [and] possible multiplayer.” I can not wait!

    mobile only? what a fail

  • Guestlyman

Why iOS and Android? This looks like something that would be better enjoyed at home on the PC.

Guys, there are plans for a PC version, just no concrete details…

  • Jay Sherby

Game looks good, but I could have done without the toilet shot at the end.

  • Gabriel Alejandro Zorrilla

OMG, first game that makes me want to upgrade my Droid.

Why not look at it as the first good game for mobile? There will be a PC version, but don’t you think it’s worth advancing the mobile market from flash/physics games into something with a bit more depth?

  • http://twitter.com/StarCommandGame StarCommandGame

There will be – but were trying to change mobile gaming. PC has plenty of great releases – let’s bring the light to a very dark corner of gaming.

PC will be an ultimate version – all the campaigns, all the expansions, possible multiplayer. But that will be later.

Coward. Look at it. Absorb it. Smell it.

  • Dialock

later as in what? two years from now?  no biggie really, right? PC already has oodles of great games…right?…right!!??

Hey, Notch, some guys stole your game idea! Is it a time for a Quake 3 match again?

  • Jamagic

Just can’t believe this game is mobile only and is never coming for PC… what a letdown, plus it’s a minecraft ripoff

  • Jamagic

But seriously if the game is anything like on the trailer it’s going to rock!! Don’t think my phone has enough battery to play long enough, though, this is the type of game I play for 8 hours straight, in 1990… when I was an unemployed virgin. Good times!

  • byoshi

This game is the same premise of FTL from kickstarter, great gaming times indeed. =)

Thank you for summing up all of the wrong claims from the previous comments.

How is it a ripoff of Minecraft? It looks absolutely nothing like Minecraft. And Notch didn’t invent this genre with his new Elite-like game. It’s been around for several decades.

  • Neil79

iOS and Android… EPIC fail, pc first!

  • http://robcolburn.com Rob Colburn

Hah, love the last bit of the video

  • Guest

I guess I’ll play FTL until the pc version is released.

I’ve really been looking forward to this game (other than the fact that it’s totally a minecraft and cave story ripoff)

What idevices will this game support?, I’m sadly only on the second gen itouch.

This game looks amazing, too bad it rips off 0x10c, FTL, Privateer, ASCII Privateer, Eve Online, XCOM, X, Elite, Freelancer, Space Rogue, Independence War, Jagged Alliance, Sundog, Starflight, Starfleet, Tachyon, Universe, 2400 AD, Breach, Centauri Alliance, Captain Blood, Echelon, Escape From the Planet Of The Robot Monsters, ah I give up. Yes sir ripped em clean right off. Yes indeed.

Just kidding. This looks amazing! A++ video editing.

Crap I forgot Sentinel Worlds and Hard Nova. Ripped those off too.

  • http://kokorognosis.livejournal.com/ Josh Young

    Well, I’m sold.

  • Jameson

No, in my humble opinion what’s worth it is letting the mobile market revel in its own pile of crap until it asphyxiates.

  • Bwakathaboom

    Nobody plays PC games anymore!

  • Jay Tholen

Do you guys know how to read? Sheesh.

This looks fantastic, though the last part of the trailer probably came off a little weird to my coworkers. :/

  • Break

It never will, though. In fact it’s insanely successful and profitable for everyone involved. So why not try to make it better?

  • http://twitter.com/StarCommandGame StarCommandGame

And Civilization, Sim City, Mario, Pong and Return to Zork. And Myth.

  • http://twitter.com/StarCommandGame StarCommandGame

    3GS+ and iPad1+

  • http://twitter.com/StarCommandGame StarCommandGame

You have to have a smart phone/tablet/something by now right?

  • http://twitter.com/StarCommandGame StarCommandGame

It was designed from teh ground up for touch interface. It works very well. Come on, you have to have a smartphone/tablet or something sitting around

  • Jamagic

Best PC game I’ve seen in ages

  • http://rudolphthesnowdeer.myopenid.com/ Rudolf

I don’t really think the issue is that people don’t HAVE these things, it’s that people don’t neccessarily want to use them for gaming. I have a HTC Desire Something, and it’s a nice piece of kit but virtually every game I’ve tried to play on it has turned out to be a letdown due to touch screen controls.

Also, I never have time to play on my phone. I don’t use the bus much any more (all grown up now), and there’s generally very little “waiting around” in my life. And if I’m at home I’ll play on my PC or consoles, because that’s always better anyway.

There’s just one type of game I actually feel belong on the mobile phones, and that’s the Wordfeud/Draw Something kind of game that you play turn based multiplayer with your friends and each turn takes like a couple of minutes.

But good luck with the release. Looking forward to the PC version.

aw, hibernation for pc version then!

  • Hand Banana

So the game is for me then…whoohoo!

  • http://www.arm42.com/ Michaël Lievens

    YEah me too ^^

Featured like : explore the galaxy from your toilet ! Awesome ^^

  • Boobs

Too bad it’s PC only. I really wanted to play this on a crowded bus, squinting at a small screen, trying to select stuff with my big fingers, on an under powered phone.

  • Jamagic

    Haha! Great stuff!

  • Guest

     Nope.

  • Guest

The monitor is too small for accurate tapping on my phone so all I’m left with is a infuriating hard to play battery drain and no, I don’t have a tablet because I value my money and can’t justify the expense.

    PC version please.

  • Jamagic

Is this game out for PC yet? Go ask en mass on their youtube channel!

  • Random

Is there a game called Star Command in 1988?

  • Anonymous

Well I disagree. To me that was an epic ending.

  • Anonymoose

    No.

  • Anonymoose

I’ll get this on PC, unless the Android version also comes with the PC version. Not worth getting it on the Android if there is going to be missing content and features. Not to mention that it doesn’t look like something you can just play on the go anyway, seems too indepth for mobile gaming.

Mobile gaming is for non-gamers and gamers without access to a PC or console. I liken mobile gaming to playing Tic Tac Toe, the only reason you have for playing Tic Tac Toe is you’re trapped in the middle of nowhere and have nothing else to play.

hahhahah neat, space station 13 with theme hospital dynamics

  • Anonymous

Haha, what? What world do you live in where everyone has a new several-hundred-dollar device just “sitting around”?
