Zineth, by Arcane Kids

Developed by a group of students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute during their Spring semester, Zineth is a non-linear action game that mostly lets you skate around, but also gives you the option to fiddle around with fetch quests, races, Twitter, and a strange Pok√©mon-esque minigame that’s accessible through the player’s mobile device. The main draw, however, is the skating, and it feels fast and fun. It’s complemented by a cool aesthetic and an expansive world that offers plenty of opportunities to grind, glide, and wall jump across huge distances.

Twitter? Really? I smell funding, and not woven in very well. Honestly the whole phone bit doesn’t belong in the game at all.

    LET’S GET READY TO RUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBLE!!!

Another student from the RPI games program here: I believe this game was made for the class Experimental Game Design, which (as the name implies) requires the students to experiment with new mechanics and ideas. The Twitter aspect may have been a failed experiment, but there’s a reason it’s in there.

yes i’m sure twitter funded this small student computer game in order to draw users to their fledgling web service, that’s definitely what happened here

HOW DO YOU GET TO THE MOON

  • Narei

Wow! This game looks stunning! Way too few abstract/cartoony 3D games out there – are there even any?

Holy cow, this game is amazing. If you enjoyed the old Dreamcast action/racing classics like Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, etc. then this game will bring back so many memories.

Fight the hawk. Look under the highway-like thing.

The best 3d indie game since Gravity Bone

The main mechanic is so fun
The world theme and design is fun ( I wish I could use more descriptive words than fun)
I love all the colour and the hard shadowing

The bad things are playing as a floating ginger cowboy (that’s not cool or likeable)
To much emphasis in the lame rpg shooter thing

I would love to see this expanded on
A bigger story with more missions and more areas to play in
    Multiiplayer too, to race people

  • thomasphillips1992

Oh and it also isn’t clear what you have to do sometimes
I dont think your ever told about the missions menu
or how to find the hawk
or that you have to battle the hawk
and then fly the hawk to that place

This game is absolutely fantastic in pretty much every way, it’s just a shame it’s so short once you know what to do.
also I swear I’ve seen the character design before, but I dont know where.
