Sunny Day Sky

A new Orisinal game, hurrah! Sunny Day Sky is another incredibly endearing, life-affirming project from the mind of Ferry Halim (gad, what must it be like in there?). In the game you control a small bear who’s whose goal is to fly over as many cars as possible with his umbrella. By opening and closing your “brolly” you can catch some serious air. And catching tomatoes will let you stay afloat longer.

The game opens itself up to some serious combo/multiplier action. In my last game I netted nearly 500,000 points on a single jump, but it’s definitely very possible to go way, way higher! I think if the game ramped up in difficulty a bit faster, it’d be perfect.

Sunny Day Sky

[Guest review by J. Thompson]

Sunny Day Sky is another degenerate “danger simulator” from the twisted mind of Ferry Halim. Disguised as entertainment for children, this program promotes, among other things, playing in traffic and eating “red tomatoes” (possibly a street name for meth) to gain super powers, like the ability to fly by simply holding an umbrella. Make no mistake about it, your kids are at the mercy of this foul “gamer,” who undoubtedly gets sick satisfaction from reading the obituaries of his victims. To protect them, I strongly suggest keeping them away from computers, televisions, or any other “devil boxes” where the game could be “played.”

Previous “danger simulators” by Mr. Halim include What Comes Around, which promotes animal cruelty, and Midnight Serenade, a game in which you play a stalker preying upon a young woman. Good Christians should also take note that Mr. Halim calls himself “Orisinal,” a name which is most likely shorthand for “Original Sin.” The pagan bastard.

Now give me my license back before I punch you in the goddamn face.

The Crossing

The Crossing

The Crossing is another beautiful flash game from Ferry “Orisinal” Halim. Though many of the Orisinal games ramp up too slowly in difficulty for me, this one got it spot on. Gorgeous presentation and incredibly moving atmosphere.

This game is like a drop of dew falling on a baby bunny’s nose, waking him. And as the bunny shakes his nose, the dew disappears, and there’s a miracle to take its place.

Merry Belated Christmas!

Alright, Christmas has been over for a few days now… I guess it’s about time to start posting again!

Here are a collection of Christmas-themed games that came out this month. Because it’s never too late for Christmas, amirite? No, seriously, these are all pretty good – you should try them out.

Merry Gear Solid

“”http://www.total-klik.net/merrygear.html">Merry Gear Solid: Secret Santa is a top down stealth action game in the vein of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid series." And that’s really a pretty accurate description of the game, I’d say. Here’s a YouTube vid of the game in action. It’s by Podunkian, the guy who’s making that Cave Story “homage,” Underside.

Holiday Hills

Holiday Hills is a fun SkiFree clone by Johan Peitz. I don’t know if there’s a Yeti in this game. I hope there is (but there probably isn’t). There needs to be an option to flip the controls in this one.

Winter Bells

Winter Bells is an Orisinal game that has you hopping on bells with a cute little bunny. It’s basically the video game equivalent of a shining snowflake being caught by the little hands of Baby Jesus… and when Baby Jesus opens his hands the snowflake is gone and there’s a miracle to take its place.

Mission in Snowdriftland

And don’t forget this one! All the levels should be unlocked by now.

ORISINAL

Hey everybody, I’m one of the new writers for TIGSource. So all you long-time TIGgers (a horrible, if adorable appellation) let me know if I have a terrible new flavor of reporting, the Crystal Pepsi of journalism if you will. But that is neither here nor there. What brings us here today is perhaps the greatest casual games website on the net, Orisinal.

Orisinal serves as a personal portfolio/compilation of Ferry Halim’s flash games, with Halim acting as perhaps the most prolific casual games auteur outside of the shooter scene. The games featured on Orisinal are done in a wonderfully painterly style, set to gentle, melodic scores, and most importantly, are masterworks of simple interaction and design mechanisms. Most Orisinal games require only the mouse to play and resolve within minutes, but can be played again and again (and again). If coffee breaks were a docile herbivore, these seemingly tiny games would be their most voracious predator.

My personal favorite is The Runaway Train, but it would be a long and boring post if I were to describe each game, so let it suffice that I have given you the URL, pointed you in the right direction and given you a small shove. Go have fun.
