Noitu Love 2

Oh yes, it’s finally here! Noitu Love 2 is the very long awaited sequel to the original side-scrolling mighty-morphing action game from Konjak. Hit up the site for both an extended demo version and to purchase the full version online. The forums do seem to list some problems with getting order emails through, which seems mainly to do with PayPal (although it worked for me), so if you can avoid using that then maybe a better plan as there are a number of payment options, but if not I’m sure it’ll probably work out fine anyway.

$20 may seem a little high (edit: according to the comments, this is apparently only the case if you’re a student… bugger…), but I swear on my reputation as the most ‘occasional’ contributor to TIGSource that if you at least give the demo a try you will not be disappointed. And if you have already, then you’re probably too busy clicking the above link to read this. I understand. Do what you must. As well as the main 7-level IGF finalist game, the full version also offers a wealth of unlockable content, including one extra that’s so awesome I swear I’m running my second-playthrough pantless.

Happy gaming TIG!

  • konjak

I’m really sorry about this PayPal crap… :(

    And thanks, Xander!

  • december

Xander, you are wrong. $20 does not seem a little high. It is between five and ten dollars less than I was prepared to pay.

  • http://haikuatwork.com Raisins

I really want this to come to steam

  • Xander

I may change my post to reflect this december.

‘You may think that $20 is too much, BUT YOU ARE WRONG’

    Perfect…

  • Hunty

$20 is what videogames are supposed to cost. :)

This and Aquaria seem like prime candidates for Greenhouse, once it finally gets going.

  • Zaphos

To echo everyone else, $20 is kinda what I expected — I think that is kind of a standard price point for PC indie stuff.

  • Zaphos

    Also: OMG must get game!

  • dustin

In case anyone’s on the fence, this game is fun as hell, and challenging without ever getting cheap.

It’s also faster paced than any metal slug or contra despite having to use your fists in leau of guns

  • Derek

Yes! Thanks for catching this, Xander. $20 bucks very, VERY well spent. :)

  • Zoram

With the Euro so strong lately, it’s really a small price. Just a question, how big is the download of the full version? Right now I’m on a strict bandwidth limit, so I must know the file size beforehand.

  • konjak

Hah, the file size is 11,5 megs. :D

  • Lim-Dul

    Only around 11.7 MB. ^^

  • Radnom

Hot damn, I just spent the last of my student-money on Cortex Command last week. Now that I’m not a student though I will attempt to get a job so I can buy more delicious indie games starting with this one.

  • Xion

    In the picture,
there is an arrow pointing at Xoda’s boobie.

Awesome. (about the game, I mean. Not the arrow.) Now I need to get some money with which to buy this awesomeness.

  • Osg

Man…I love the demo, but geeze. I haven’t been able to play it yet, because the company is taking all day to do something that usually takes a couple of seconds. Playing the demo to pass times, but man.

  • Radnom

Haha, there’s an arrow pointing at her boob?

  • konjak

I wanted to use sex to sell.

    And it’s the mouse pointer.

  • Xander

Haha, that wasn’t really intentional, but I guess subconciously who knows? I thought it was funny at least, but given Xoda’s COMPLETELY UNAMUSED GLARE I may have my shins kicked in later…

  • Carlz0r

Um… I think the game just wiped my save file when I quit and came back to it… Any idea what causes this, so it doesn’t happen again?

  • Dusty Spur

my lack of a credit card or bank account once again foils me in my efforts to have fun. sadface.

  • konjak

Carlz0r, did you Save & Quit and? And it was still gone?

  • Carlz0r

I got to the same point again, and figured out what happened.. I saved and quit, then resumed, then quit again. the resuming deletes the save…

Is there anyway to save mid-level, even if it’d return me to the beginning of the stage when I resume? The reason I ask, is what if I resume my game, and then get called away to do something else, before I can finish the level… I’ll have to quit mid-level, and it will have already destroyed my save from when I continued.

And what if I resume, then lose power? I’ll have to start all over every time something silly like that happens… bad save system =(

  • Carlz0r

if/until I get an answer to that question, I may or may not have found a solution… I’ll just backup the “save” file in the game’s directory each time I save and quit… Hopefully replacing an absent save file with the backup will work.

  • konjak

Yes, it deletes a save once loaded because a save that remains defeats the point of continues and a lot of the challenge.

I can’t stop people from copying saves, though.

  • crackers

Wow, $20, that’s about the price of a budget PC game. If anyone complains about that then they are cunts.

  • Geoff

As soon as I get my paypal account I’m buying this, also konjak nice asset compression, I can’t remember the last time I download anything VG related at 10 megs.

  • Geoff

oh and good game to :P

  • Genisi

Man, I fucking LOVED the demo, but buying the actual game seems to be a bit of a chore with the whole confirmation stuff, and it just seems to take forever.

I really want to play the game, but it just seems to take a bit too long to actually get to doing so.

  • Lim-Dul

@Gensi – took me about 2-3 minutes? But then I already had a PayPal account. =)

  • Genisi

I do too, but it just seems to be taking way longer that it probably should

  • gnawingonfoot

I haven’t had this much fun with a game in this genre since Gunstar Super Heroes. Very nice! Now if only I hadn’t bought so many other games this weekend… Anyhow, this is going straigt to the top of my ‘to buy’ list.

  • harkejuice

THIS ROCKS. i played noitu love 1, but this ,..this just awesome.

@Gensi, it really goes alot faster if you have a pay pal account.

  • Annabelle

i just bought this.. its so killer.

I love it! konjak you are amazing.

  • Carlz0r

I don’t see why anyone would complain about how slow you get the game… After putting in my info, and waiting about 3 minutes, the email was in my mailbox… and the download only took a very short time.

  • Carlz0r

Ran in to a glitch in the third level when you fight the underwater snake thing…. I somehow ended up someplace offscreen (I think underground) where I couldn’t see my character, and I was forced to quit without saving… lost all my progress because I forgot to try my backing up save files idea… yay… starting over… again…

  • Pigbuster

    AGH.

The first demo worked almost perfectly on my mac using Crossover, but this version can’t go full screen without a serious decrease in frame-rate.

    Very sad, I am.

  • Valkyrie

Freaking awesome game. Bought it and played straight through with Xoda and the other two unlockable characters. Clicking the mouse was killing me so I plugged in my tablet and used that. Needs a little tweaking in the tablet panel but works beautifully.

The only real bug I came across was after beating the game with the second unlockable character and watching the credits, the game crashed on me. I haven’t tried to replicate it yet, but I’m gladly doing so right now.

  • Melly

Glitches or not, I’m getting this the first chance I’m able.

    I’m doing this shit, baby.

  • Mar

    YEEEEEEAH!

  • Valkyrie

Nope. Just a freak occurrence with MMF2 I guess.

    Hard mode, here I come!

  • Melly

Yep, found a glitch on the extended demo. I was hit by the guillotines at one point and Xoda got stuck on the top, falling down and damaging herself continuously. None of my controls worked and even as the level restarted the controls did not returned, forcing me to restart and lose my progress.

I also felt the overall performance of the extended demo was poorer than that of the previous one.

  • http://0xdeadc0de.org Eclipse

I’ll buy it because that amusing arrow

  • OrR

On my PC, the first fullscreen mode doesn’t go full screen but displays the game as a small box in the middle of the screen. The second one makes the screen go black and displays nothing (but a just slightly visible red square in the upper right corner). I wonder what changed from the demo… Maybe it’s the bloody Nvidia drivers messing with my dual monitor setup again.

  • Lim-Dul

Have you tried setting different scaling options in your NVIDIA control panel?

  • OrR

Scaling options? Are you talking about screen resolutions or something else?

  • Scottedont

I just bought NL2 and I got all the way to to level 6. At level 6 though, the gravity switch keeps pushing Xoda into the ceiling and she stays stuck at the top of the screen in a crouched position. I can’t get past lvl6 because of this. Its an odd bug. Has anybody else had this problem? Otherwise this is the best action game I have played in a long time. ^_^

  • konjak

Scottedont, it SOUNDS like a bug I fixed, there is a patch here:
    http://www.konjak.org/nl2patch_0.9c.zip

  • Mischief Maker

I bought this game, love it, but I have one big non-bug complaint.

It feels odd to request repetition and filler from a game designer, but the level pacing in this game after level 1 is way too breakneck.

There are oodles of pink and blue darns to destroy, but the other, more interesting variations are gone in a blink. I think there are only 2 of those broadsword darns who require timing and dodging in the entire game. They should have been used throughout. Same with those cool teleporting samurai darns. And that nifty strider-esque gravity reversing was over in less than 30 seconds.

The pink and blue darns are great and all, but they’re also really easy. As the game goes on, the darns you face should become more challenging and diverse to keep it from becoming the mindless clickfest the game’s detractors accuse it of being. If anything, it would be the 2D Devil May Cry we’ve been wanting for years.

At the very least, if MMF can handle it, the final level in version 1.0 should just be a chaotic mess of smart darns and broadsword darns and samurai darns and new darns and pink darns and blue darns, all at the same time.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • Lambchops

Konjak you are gloriously quick with these bug patches! I was having the same problem as Scottedint at various points in the game (but most particularly at the gravity switch section) – good to see you’ve fixed it so quickly. I’m looking forward to seeing what the last couple of levels are like.

  • konjak

Well, have you played Hard and Hardest yet?
