Touhoukokuhuugi

TouhoukokuhuugiIn terms of difficulty, I love my shooters rock hard. Shoot the Bullet is practically way off the charts in that sense. No demo for Zun’s effort yet, so you guys have to settle with Touhoukokuhuugi. Fancy Japanese names don’t hide the fact that it requires impossible bullet dodging and photography skills just to get past the first few levels.

Comparing both, the similarities are striking. Take pictures by holding the Z key when your camera is ready, indicated by a percentage shown above the crosshair. Use the X key to make your character move slower, or press both buttons to charge your weapon faster. Only photos with bosses are considered valid. Still early in production, the game is very playable even without any background music or sound effects.

The download link can be found here. Click on Project 04 to grab the 5MB file.

    Wait!!
Don’t tell me the “hold both buttons to reload camera faster” thing works in Shoot the Bullet as well?

  • Tim W.

    Well… okay, I won’t! :)

  • Derek

    I love you, Tim.

  • Andersong

I changed my mind! Please tell me wether the “hold both buttons to reload camera faster” thing works in Shoot the Bullet as well?

  • Tim W.

    And I love De… Eternal Daughter! :)

Yes, in StB holding both buttons will cause your character to move slower but charge faster.

  • Andersong

Don’t we all love Eternal Daughter? Especially the tunes! Saulesco LOVE!

Ach, that trick should help alot versus some of those nasty Patchouli cards. Thanks, Tim!

Yea, I own Shoot the Bullet (bought from an import vendor) and it’s fscking amazing.

Yes, holding both buttons does help you recharge faster in addition to allowing fine tune movement (I typically have to use this anyway).

Anyways, I’ll be writing a full review for PuppyBlog eventually.

you’re welcome, andersong. :) i’m quite sure there are replays posted on dracil’s site as well. anyone looking to sample shoot the bullet but was disappointed by the absence of a demo can download touhoukokuhuugi, the gameplay is practically the same. just not as much polish as zun’s effort, but still able to shine on it’s own. looking forward to the StB review on puppygames!
