Just because it’s so cool to see a b-.. dog get slapped in tha face. The Puyo remake will probably include an online multiplayer mode and world peace.

Hawt.

Now will someone remake Super Puzzle Fighter already? Zulu Gems and Angry Drunken Dwarves don’t count.

(Can’t wait? Pushover and Clockwiser have been out for ages)

Damn, I loved Super Puzzle Fighter, and something tells me I would like Puyo Puyo Pop as well.

  • Oddbob

God, I really wish someone would.

The amount of time I spent inebriated post pub battling folks at Super Puzzle Fighter beggars belief.

Pretty high on my wishlist providing someone doesn’t make an utter balls of it. If they did, I’d have to cry. And then stab them.

Only the coolest people loved that game.

I might post about your willy next. :)

Never found it necessary to remake Puzzle Fighter myself. Original version still holds up extremely well today (I have it as an arcade rom, PS1 game and PC game). I personally don’t think theres many people capable of doing a good job of revamping the fighter sprites in it though.

  • Tim W.

It needs… online multiplayer mode? :)

  • Wolverine

Can already play it online if ya use something like WinKawaks using the Kaillera client thing. I ain’t much for online gaming at all but I do occasionally load up WinKawaks just so I can play a Street Fighter against someone who actually has some skill (unlike all my local friends who are totally useless…)

  • Teeth

Bit of a palaver though innit.

  • Wolverine

Ain’t sure what that means. But if ya mean troublesome to set up. Not at all. I use it a lot and have never had any trouble whatsoever.

How about the guy who did the GBA version sprites? I’m sure I’ve met him somewhere along the line… ;)

  • Wolverine

Been a while since I seen the GBA version, but were they shrunken and tidied up like Street Fighter games are to fit into the GBA’s small screen? Even then shrinking someone else’s sprites is a lot easier than doing them all at twice the size of the original if wanting to remake the game in 640×480 like a lot of PC remakes. I’ve never seen a game that had its graphics resized larger and edited that retained the quality and did a good job of using the extra space. Most have just looked like some emulators filters which end up either blurring or making everything look like plastic. Even Guilty Gear’s seem to have been redrawn from scratch when becoming the hi-res Guilty Gear X

  • Oddbob

As far as I can tell they were all redrawn.

Course, you could just ask Mr S with him being lead artist on the game and aside from your good self, the only person I’d trust with them.

You’re spot on of course with the resizing comments – usually the reason is they *are* just crappy smoothing filters applied to them. I guess some people just don’t understand the beauty of pixels properly.

Thats not improving them, thats taking a crap on the original art.
