They Came From Hollywood

They Came From Hollywood is an RTS-style game in development by Octopus Motor (first game of a… studio? composed of two people) where you’re in control of a giant monster (selection of twelve).

Umm… yeah, it’s also been in development for 5 years because the developers probably don’t know when to quit.

Well, I think this video is a good enough example of how awesome the game looks (YouTube quality):

They really, really, need to just finish up this damn game! See The 6 Indie Mistakes: Rule #3…

If they ever go Status: Lincoln, I’ll cry.

  • Lorne

    I’ll cry with you, Derek.

Should I add it to the active development list?

Is it being actively developed? ;)

Hey! Here is a Game Tunnel interview with them:

Also, it looks like their news page is rarely updated.

  • Sparky

Hey now…we aren’t adding any new features. We’re still finishing the ones we originally planned. It’s a big game and we’re two people. Yeah, it’s taking too long. “Life is what happens wwhile you’re making other plans”, as somebody once said. Believe me, we ain’t happy about it. I’m pretty damn miserable about it, frankly.

And as for the “6 indie mistakes” #3, we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

  • Lorne

Well I’m sorry you have new features to unveil each news post :P

  • Derek

Hey, Sparky… sorry, I’m sure you guys have enough pressure on you without needing us to bitch and moan. Let’s just say we’re really looking forward to the game and leave it at that!

The game looks like it’ll be fantastic.

  • Sparky

I KNEW IT! Lorne has a tiny helicopter spy camera which is, as we speak, hovering somewhere in my house. He has thus remotely scanned all of my TCFH design documents in order to determine which bits of the game are NEW and which are, in fact, NOT new, but just have not been revealed to the public before I post them on our site.

He probably also captured the time I ate a Skittle after it had been on the floor for MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES. Oh, and I suspect he’s been in my underwear drawer, because I can’t find my favorite glow-in-the-dark Halloween panties anywhere.

    I’M ON TO YOU LORNE

  • Derek

“Oh, and I suspect he’s been in my underwear drawer, because I can’t find my favorite glow-in-the-dark Halloween panties anywhere.”

Holy… Lorne told me those were a gift from his grandma!!! :O

  • negative zero

    giant robots? that’s $%#*$@ awesome!!

  • http://www.TScreative.net BMcC

    Um, FROG HUNT?

  • Lorne

I would never spy on you!
It was just reconnaissance for the sole purpose of gathering information on certain persons and their work!

  • Savant

I’d bet my house that Aquaria is released before this piece of shit.

  • Lorne

Savant, don’t be a jackass. If you continue, I will summon a army of dire beavers to gnaw your limbs off.

  • Xander

He -would- send an army of Fire Llamas, but apparently they only appear at random.

Unless of course you’re Jeff Minter…

They could at least release a beta or demo.

  • mushu

    …or a potato.

  • Sparky

I love you, too, Savant. But please, NO WAGERING.

Mushu, I will happily release Potato 1.0, but not until it’s done – by which I mean tender on the inside, crispy on the outside, and full of delicious butter and sour cream.

Oh, and bacon bits, but you’ll have to download those separately. We considered chives, but that would be an extra feature and would upset Lorne and besides, they give me indigestion.

  • lex500

The thing about epic projects is that..

The time will pass anyway, so you might as well have been working on something fuckin rockin.

Which appears to be the case.

  • lex500
  • mushu

    Yummy!

  • Teeth

It’s no news that Savant is a cock.

  • Kein

It looks amazing, take your time. As for the potato, will there be a butter/sour cream free version for us vegans?
