PlayPen

Aaaaaand, we’re back. Jeff Lindsay upgraded our blog software (Typo) and there were some hiccups. We were an entire version number behind!

Anyway, Farbs (ROM CHECK FAIL, Captain Forever) has created an awesome collaborative wiki game called PlayPen. Anyone can jump in and start adding to or changing the game, which lets you click hotspots to enter new areas. It includes a drawing tool much like TIGer Paint, which members have been using to create pixel art on TIGForums. Very simple to use, and very fun to play around with. You never know where you’re going to end up in this game!

If you want to discuss the game on the forums or give Farbs feedback, go here.

    Collaborative creativity is awesome.

…So this thing reminded me of something I’ve wanted to make for years. When I mentioned that I wanted to do that, Farbs said to go for it. So I am. More news on this as it develops. :D

frontpage is p. slow to load.

I sat looking at the seconds tick over on my watch, 21 seconds to load. I think you guys need to look into caching or something.

This is interesting. And no penises so far!

Haha, no there are penises aplenty. See?

And these are just the ones people made the effort to name.

    More validation errors again.

It’s nice to see the whole thing doesn’t screw up when you leave “name” empty. That’s a good fix. Even better would be if it automatically filled in “Anonymous” if you don’t fill it in yourself.

Now to browse this site with Javascript turned off >:D

  • Anonymous

No Javascript here. I’m either at a big company that has it turned off, using a text-based browser, running awfully far behind or am being an ass.

    About this site:

Typo is terrible. Caching doesn’t help. Typo subverts the caching. It eats up memory but doesn’t die, so auto-restart scripts don’t help — it just sits in an unresponsive state. Just added a cron to restart Typo every hour until we migrate to WordPress.
