I’m ashamed to say that until recently, I had never heard of Super Cosplay War Ultra. It’s arguably the best free fighting game out there. The abundant and sometimes obscure references a source of endless amusement. The quirky characters and their transformations are so awesomely impressive that, when describing this game, it’s not a grammatical error to use redundancy. The experience of watching Totoro beat the heck out of little Chobits-like characters in a “Battle Royale” stand-off is just sublime.

As for the picture above, I think it’s just another testament the game’s greatness.

You can download the game from the above link or from this link. The password to unzip the game is “http://www.fkdigital.net”.

  • Eos

Is the full frontal nerdity a little disturbing?

  • Iki

Nice looking game, but slow DL:(

  • NHP

You have to beat Adventure Mode in under 69 minutes, playing completely in the buff, to unlock Omega Lee.

  • Albert Lai

The download’s being difficult, but I blame my internet. Looks to be really cool, lets hope a fan-translation comes out sometime.

  • Shabadage

That dude with the laptop reminds me of Pod.

  • Mr Panda

The first thing I did while looking at the post was raise an eyebrow… Very nice work! hope to see many more strange things to come.

  • tigseditor

hope this is not a new requirement for all editors. I need a bigger screen to cover my bit.

gui gui…you don’t know what you are talking about. The guy with the laptop could never be so right!

  • NO!

Why is a password needed to unzip? is this warez or something? YOU FUCKING THIEVES! And, come on Yu, that laptop was too much for ya, a PDA would’ve been more than enough, I’ve been told…

  • Advenith

Ah, yes, the king of freeware fighting. I never managed to get the download working from the original site, but Home of the Underdogs worked eventually.

  • Moose

The password isn’t to do with warez.. if you look at the home page of the game, http://a030032098.myweb.hinet.net/2004scwu_indexjp/2004scwu_indexjp.htm the password is right there about 3/4 of the way down the page.

I got the DL working and played it. The combos feel a little stiff to me, probably just because I’m horrible at fighting games. And (again probably another symptom of my lack of fighting experience) the bouts seem to last inordinately long. Other than that, it’s pretty solid. A ton of characters, brimming with references. My only true complaint is that whoever gave the developers that NIII noise Gigi makes every two seconds deserves life in prison.

No one has asked about who was there to help take the picture.

    I’m not gonna do it.

  • Advenith

Wow, Shinji16. I now have images in my mind that will leave scars for many years to come.

Good to know I’ve done my job.

And curse you TIG – you keep posting stuff I’ve forgotten about… leaving me nothing to write about…

    YOU WIN THIS TIME GADGET!

Well… not really. Anyways, yea, this game is pretty awesome.

It’s just a ‘good’ fighter (in regards to move windows) on a keyboard is all. Get it on stick, and reaction times needed are still pretty high in regards to the rolls and DPs.
