Fairy Attackers

Fairy Attackers has terrible scrolling. Every time you change direction the camera moves. Seriously, I ate three breakfast tacos before I played this game and I almost yakked them all up.

Aside from that, this is a fairly mediocre Wonderboy homage all the way around.

Yeah, I checked it out on Tim’s recommendation (which is rare – he’s usually sounds quite indifferent to 90% of the games he posts), but I was a little disappointed. I mean, it’s ok, it’s fun, it’s just not “brilliant”.

Bah, I’ll get over it, I’m sure.

For screen panning look-ahead, you really want to use some kinda *dampened* velocity magnitude from the player character to offset. So only if you build up a bunch of speed do you want to look ahead and/or/zoom out.

Of course, that gets painful if you care about more than one object in a game.

Who am I kidding? There’s a million different approaches to this which work. You only need to find one.

    breakfast tacos huh?

Just the scrolling? I’d like to submit:

    – Jumping
    – Climbing
    – Strange imbalance in the quality of the graphics (some are good, some are rather crap)

But it did hold my interest long enough to kill the first boss and get to some weird blue cheese-rock level. I might even go back to it despite the fact that I have no clue what anyone’s saying, or what the hell’s going on.
