Retro Remakes

Just a heads-up: Retro Remakes recently got a facelift, and it looks great, natch.

Also, I’ve been meaning to recommend Tim W.‘s grand database of freeware games, which is hosted by Retro Remakes. The database archives every game Tim has mentioned on his site and as we all know, it’s an insane amount (just under 1,000). You might not have heard about it, as Tim does not publicize it very much.

Post your theories as to what Tim really is in the comments, because I know for a fact that he’s not human. My theory is that the “W” stands for “We” because Tim is not actually an individual – he’s an entire race of benevolent super-beings who live beneath the Earth’s crust and really enjoy playing indie games.

Tim is actually a biologically engineered entity created by the government for advanced nuclear warfare. T.i.m. actually stands for Tritium Information Machine. However TIM went rouge several months ago after playing a game the government will now only refer to as “Story X”. TIM’s current whereabouts remain unknown…

I always thought Tim would use some more rouge.

  • Zaphos

He is an incredible machine. Obviously.

  • Gr.Viper

TIM always stood for “The Incredible Machine” (anyone else likes feeding the boy to the crocodile?) “W.”… hm… “of Wonders”? maybe “Winder” like in winding clock’s spring

You forgot to mention penises, Derek.

  • BeamSplashX

    Total Imitation Martian, War model.

And you should very well know that Retro Remakes doesn’t get facelifts, but actually teleports itself further into the past to change its layout.

Heh. I reminded him about the Review Archives. He took it off for the longest time.

Tim W. is not a person, or even sentient. “He” is an incredibly advanced supercomputer that uses a high-level algorithm to scour the Internet for indie games, which then relays them to several bases around the world, where they are then played and reviewed by a team of humans chained to their computers. It may sound cruel, but it’s for the best.

“He” chose “his” first name based on HAL 9000’s, but it is not an acronym. The W signifies tungsten, which is his primary structural material.
