This indeed is the future of indie gaming pr0n…

  • GirlFlash

pretty interesting, though I think whoever recorded this was high =p

  • David

*cough* I wuz thar, and it kiked azz.

  • MisterX

Nice. Especially the “The kind of stuff you *points at the camera guy (I guess)* report about on TIGSource”. I guess it won’t be too hard to find out who filmed it :D

  • MYSTERY CAMERA PERSON

Actually he was pointing at Derek Yu, not me ;)

  • Corpus

    Haha, Jon Mak is awesome.

  • robolee

pah, the guy at the far right was the most indie guy their, the rest were all in it for the profit, where’s their “indie spirit” (the guy who made the second speech, even he didn’t object *tsk* but maybe he was being polite and not interrupting his speech, but opinions must be heard).

MAKING GAMES IS ABOUT THE FUN, if you do it only for the money or you don’t believe this you don’t have the indie spirit, but you are still indie becuase you believe anyone with the will to can make a game.

I believe this indie spirit is the difference between indie and small time developers (just want the money).

  • Adam Atomic

I think you mean the difference between indie and amateur developers.

It’s funny you say Mak is the most indie guy there, as he’s the one working with Sony… which from a financial standpoint makes him far less indie :D

In seriousness tho, he’s a total pimp.

  • haowan

    Great stuff.

  • Satsuz

WTF was with the constant laughing during the presentations? Was that you, “MYSTERY CAMERA PERSON”? Whoever it was, that’s awfully rude.

Sigh, I’m not able to understand almost a single word :(

  • teknogames

I have to say I agree mostly with what the guy who made Everyday Shooter said. Even his speeches feel indie, with the curse word throwing and what not. I think it’s really about just making what you want to make, even if no one sees it. It’s the fact that you get to make what you want which makes you indie. The sad part is that you cannot make a living from indie games. I feel that XBLA games maybe should cost more, from a dev point of view. From a consumer point of view, perhaps you think its a gamble to be spending more than 5$ on a game that was made by 5 people on a low budget. But should it really cost a dollar per person?

  • Bob Saget

From the first few videos I’ve seen of Jon Mak, I thought he was somewhat annoying and full of himself. This video totally reversed my opinion on him. What a cool guy! I was totally wrong… I want to give him a glorious manhug.

    Thanks for the upload!

  • fish

hey! thats me in the stripes.

I feel like the discussions about what exactly “indie is” are kind of masturbatory at best. As Jon says, indie game development is just about rocking out, you don’t/shouldn’t need to give a damn about how you look in the mirror while you do it. (same goes for masturbation as well, I suppose)
