Humorous, although I wonder if credit was given to the creator of Sumotori Dreams. I imagine that the majority of the people who watched that clip on the show itself probably thought that the “silly video game fighting” footage was put together by the show’s graphic effects team.

Conan is my hero.

Beautiful.

>>>although I wonder if credit was given to the creator of Sumotori
credit was already given to Conan instead of his writers

So what’s supposed to be going on in this video. All I’m seeing is a big, black square. :( Is the video from Hulu or some other site that blocks non-US residents? ;_;
Dinsdale
Same as DoujinGamer. Big, black square.
Scypher
Conan’s graphic department is delightfully nerdy; I wouldn’t be surprised if someone followed the indie game scene around there. They did include a Segata Sanshiro commercial in one bit, after all.
Consumatopia
Awesome, but kinda sucks that the still they chose for the video sorta spoils the joke.
The Monster King
was that papyrus? it was a good papyrus call!
Rob
To whoever bitched about Conan getting credit instead of his writes- Conan is way funnier than his writes. The show had a golden age during the writer’s strike.
Chris
I find it amusing that the logic in sumitori dreams for keeping the players standing is likely more complex that anything in the entire avatar game…

>>>The show had a golden age during the writer’s strike
it just proves that unsyndicated writers are funnier

Weird, I popped by on my laptop, and now it works just fine. Anywho, funny stuff. “No refunds”!
Radnom
I think Sumotori Dreams has made me laugh more than any other game ever.

I get the joke, but what’s real funny is that SD would probably kick the Avatar game any day.
namuol
i’ve never laughed harder than the day i discovered sumotori dreams.

On a side note…Is Conan standing in front of the first level of Mario Bros 3?
LOL, more proof that movie tie-ins aren’t game worthy (alright, most movie tie-ins aren’t game worthy, not all). Great idea for a game/movie director “Diss” though.

“I get the joke, but what’s real funny is that SD would probably kick the Avatar game any day.”
Or at least stumble into it until it fell off the platform

That was awesome!
It reminded me why Conan was so funny to begin with. I kind of stopped watching since he moved to his new slot…
Ape
Ha ha ha. I used to play Sumotori Dreams in C++ class, and everyone sitting behind me would very quickly get distracted by the game and get a good laugh out of it. TIGSouce.com must deserve a little credit, here.
Valkyrie
I fuck how I lol’d.
I really do hope Peter got some credit somewhere. SD is fantastically hilarious, and any praise should be directed straight to him.
shoo
Oh wow. I thought I was just playing too much wii or something.
Anon
Sumotori always cracks me up. It’s a shame they didn’t show more.
Masna
Yeah, it’s a shame he didn’t get credit. I hope they don’t think Conan actually spent hours making that. =__=
Hideous
I bet my ass Conan’s writers hang out at Reddit. First, Reddit gets a post about Sumotori Dreams. 2 days later, this shows up on Conan.
Foppy
That’s a funny volume slider, just when you are about to move it, it disappears.
PHeMoX
@Foppy: Yeah, they expect you give up right after that and just listen at full volume. ;)
Funny video though. Seems NBC’s got a healthy amount of humor after all. :p
Also, not so sure, but I think Avatar the Game does a lot of things very good (Halo-style that is).
Kamos
I remember playing SD with my friends and laughing non-stop… but SD is a nerd joke. If you show it to random people, they won’t appreciate the effort it takes to just make something stand up like that in two feet.
