Grim Dawn is an upcoming action RPG from Crate Entertainment, a small studio founded by ex-members of Iron Lore Entertainment. The game is being built on Iron Lore’s Titan Quest engine.

In this August 2011 interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Crate’s Arthur Bruno spoke quite candidly about the demise of Iron Lore and how the Grim Dawn team is planning to please “the hardcore gaming audience” on a smaller budget.

The game looks great, I like Titan Quest and it seems like  a big improvement from the ‘prequel’. Too bad that their sales may be largely decreased by upcoming Diablo 3.

the titan quest engine was quite good. the game itself not so much. maybe they make some better use of the technology.

  • Moo.

Well, I for one probably won’t be buying Diablo 3. I’m going for Grim Dawn and Torchlight 2. Mainly because the things I heard earlier in the development of Diablo 3 was things I didn’t like, like the always online thing. And I loved Titan Quest and the first Torchlight.

Looks like an interesting mix of keyboard keybinds and console style controller.

The only thing I don’t like (though don’t I really know the project at large) is the name—Grim Dawn strikes me as too generic.

i disagree. i think the name is sweet.

  • Hurrr

says the guy named “baal” good job…

It had better have randomly generated maps like in Diablo. Titan Quest didn’t have that, and it really hurt the replay value.
