Intrusion 2

Intrusion 2, a run n’ gun by Aleksey Abramenko, was released this week for Windows. The game features a sweet physics engine that lets you blow apart ragdolls and scenery while you ride around on wolves (among other things). It’s quite enjoyable.

The full game costs $10 and a demo is available.

The bosses are really great, especially the last one. They have a very old school feeling, but they have a lot of patterns, and it feels good to beat them because the have the right level of difficulty. The levels themselves can be a bit dull sometimes, but they pick up the pace later. Some set pieces were pretty exciting. You can also pilot a robot that can grab and throw everything with its bionic commando style arm (only once though).
It’s not just a physics gimmick, it’s got some cool stuff going on.

I quite enjoyed the demo but tbh, it just made me want to play the similar (but better) Zombotron again. Upon investigating I discovered that Zombotron now had a sequel, which was even better, so thank you, Intrusion 2!

I agree they are rather chunky and the mix of 2D and semi-3D is a bit ‘quirky’ for my liking, but I think it suits the game – it kinda reminds me of Metal Slug’s graphics.
