Alex Adventure

Alex Adventure is an extremely enjoyable little platform game that has you inexplicably seeking out 6 artifacts. Explore two worlds, each containing 3 artifacts. The worlds are mostly non-linear, but give way to more linear stages on route to each artifact.

The atmosphere is wonderfully surreal and strange, with weird critters and landscapes abound. There’s definitely influence from lots of platform games here, from Knytt to Lyle to Cave Story to Metroid… it runs the whole gamut, but manages to be fresh somehow. The game is beatable in a few hours. Try it, you’ll like it!

Oh, but keep in mind that the game only saves after each artifact you collect.

It was a nice 2d-break from Ultimate Ghouls and Ghosts (That game hates me). Very strange, but I don’t suppose anyone needs me to tell them that. I kept getting lost though.

I think I finished this game just about the same time it was posted here. I have a feeling I might play it again before the day is through.

The music really is like Earthbound, or at least the parts of Earthbound that aren’t very musical. Very atmospheric, and I definitely wouldn’t have enjoyed the game as much without it. Not to say it’s a bad game, more to say that it’d only be a good game without the music.

I think I beat it… I collected all the pieces, was I supposed to do anything else? There didn’t seem to be any “good job you won” type deals.
Or was I supposed to wait for something each time it went to the “press X” part?

I like the combination of exploration stages along with some forced scrolling stages to make things a little more frantic.

Zenith, I’m pretty sure all there is to the game is collecting the six artefacts. If there is anything else, I would consider it HIDDEN BONUS CONTENT!.
