Typogun

Wourme pointed out that QWERTY Warriors 2 looks a lot like Typogun, a “typing defense” game by the creator of The Jeluvian Project. And you know what, it really does!

I like Typogun more. Having to hit enter at the end of your word feels better to me, like I’m punching the trigger after loading a big round of buckshot into my cannon. And I enjoy seeing the definitions on the screen, as well. The wordlists are quite small, unfortunately. You can add your own words to the list, but it would have been nice to have a dictionary full of words to begin with. Also, I think “fortuitous” is spelled wrong.

Having played both games, I’m left kind of wishing for a new typing game that’s got everything these two have and then some. Because even after playing these games and putting up a bunch of posts I still have a hankering for some hot, sweaty, typing action! I’m a beast!

    Popcap’s Typer Shark.

  • Pointsman

It’s not really a “defense” game, but Sega’s Typing of the Dead is probably what you’re sweating for (it has the same keypress = gunshot kind of satisfaction to it).

  • Gr.Viper

Crimsonland has a similar game mode but I don’t remember whether it’s available outright or you need to finish the game to unlock it.

And Typing of he Dead is real fun. Check Underdogs for it.

Oh. Underdogs have another typing game. A freeware Typing Racer

I played typogun a long time ago, it’s one of my favorite Game Maker games. I didn’t know it was created by the same guy who made the Jeluvian Project though, good to know.

I find Qwerty Warriors/TOTD better, for the sole reason that Typogun has never successfully started on my computer without crashing.

Typing of the Dead is probably the best typing game ever.

try finishing crimsonland and you’ll get a typ’o shooter game to have fun. and with the sound of shotgun and barrels and plus the anims of creatures are worth playing for a long time!

But… there is no typing in that game?!? I like Crimsonland, tho’. :)

It’s a special typing mode if you clear normal mode in the registered version.
