The Humble Bundle guys have launched a new pay-what-you-want bundle aimed at Android users. The games included are Anomaly: Warzone Earth HD, Osmos HD, and the puzzle game EDGE. World of Goo is available as a “beat-the-average” bonus game. If you buy the bundle you’ll receive the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions of these games, as well.

Here’s an hour’s worth of jumping, climbing and gliding. As usual, you’ll need the latest version of Knytt Stories to play these levels.
1. Snow Machine by RichardJ is short, scenic and devoid of challenge. Playthrough.
2. The Dying Core by Egomassive puts you through lasers, water, lava and spikes. Custom music tracks set the tone for each trial. Playthrough.
3. White City by Headgrinder has you exploring nooks and crannies of an abandoned floating city. Playthrough.
4. Do Not Pick Up The Key by Talps is a hard level about temptation. Do not watch the playthrough.
Date: 17th-19th February 2012
Venue: CB2 Bistro, Cambridge.

I asked people what their personal favorite indie game releases of 2011 were in the forums; this is a compiled list. Each mention got one vote per person. This is a sequel to last year’s list. There were a lot of ties, so don’t comment asking what’s up with the numbers, like everyone did last year. See the full list under the jump.
1. Bastion
3. Terraria

Ahead lie four platformers that can be beaten in under ten minutes each (by me, that is). As usual, you’ll need the latest version of Knytt Stories to play these levels.
1. Oxi by Harumbai is a hard level that packs great graphical variety and detail into ten screens and forces the player to backtrack just enough to appreciate them fully. Playthrough.
Weighing in at a hefty 1.36 GB, the 2012 IGF Pirate Kart was assembled as a celebration of the small, quirky freeware titles that often go unnoticed amidst the higher-profile games entered into the Independent Games Festival. Over 100 people contributed over 300 games to the project, which was submitted to the IGF earlier this week. Cool effort on the part of Mike Meyer, the kart’s curator, as well as its numerous participants.
The original Pirate Kart was an entry in TIGSource’s very first competition, the B-Games Compo.
Big Block Games is creating a simple two-week game from scratch to raise money for Child’s Play, the charity started by Penny Arcade that provides toys and games to sick children. The team will be streaming live and putting up builds of Coffee Break Hero every hour or so, along with design notes and other fun stuff. It’s Flash-based, so you can play it right in your browser as it gets updated.
Higher donators will receive prizes such as free games and be able to contribute to the game’s design by naming monsters and items.
Our annual TIGJam is approaching! It’s once again taking place at the spacious Hacker Dojo in sunny Mountainview, California. Check the website for more information, including how to sign-up. The sign-up fee is $50 and pays for, among other things, a TIGJam t-shirt, refreshments during the Jam, and the traditional Indian dinner at the end. There are about 20 seats left, so git on it!
For the uninitiated, the jam lasts 4 days and is open to anyone interested in creating something, whether it’s a game, artwork, or music. You do not need to show up with a project in mind! Just be ready to build and play. Last year at TIGJam we played a lot of Street Fighter (IV and Third Strike) in between game-making and also held impromptu tournaments in Madhouse and NIDHOGG. There’s always a good chance of trying out some cool in-development indie games at TIGJam (or rediscovering old ones).
Many thanks to Matthew Wegner and Jeff Lindsay for organizing the jam, and thanks to Kyle Pulver for designing the jam’s website.

With three days remaining, the Humble Indie Bundle has added two new games to its roster: Steel Storm and Atom Zombie Smasher. Also, if you pay over the average cost (currently $5.63), you’ll receive the games from the HIB2: Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos, and Revenge of the Titans.
