The extremely weird first-person brawler Zeno Clash is coming to Windows April 21st.

In what’s undeniably an intelligent and well-considered move, Wolfire Games have decided to drop their current project, Overgrowth, to work on Small Tank, a game that features a very small and cute tank. Although furry-lovers are bound to be angry over the switch, I think I respect Wolfire’s decision. Because quite frankly, the world isn’t yet ready for a rabbit with boobs that aren’t at least a D cup.
An article in The Escapist reveals that the Cave Story Wii team is aiming for an April release of the game. Nicalis is interested in adding DLC to the game in the months following the release, possibly including a Boss Rush Mode and other fan-requested modes.
But this post was mostly an excuse to post the epic Cave Story Anthem video that Annabelle Kennedy made, as well as the Curly Brace fan art by Niklas “Arne” Jansson.
BIT.TRIP BEAT is the first in a series of “BIT.TRIP” games from the (relatively) new independent label Gaijin Games, featuring stylized, rhythm-based gameplay with up to four human players. It’s like retro repurposed, Bizarro World Pong with a lofi aesthetic, mounting into an adaptive audio-visual experience. If that sounds pleasing to you (why wouldn’t it?), you can grab it off WiiWare for a mere $6 USD.
Or you could pick up a Happy Meal or some Starbucks or something and continue to live your life in darkness, it’s whatever.
(Thanks Offworld!)
Good news everyone! Unity, the rapid cross-platform game development tool used by the likes of Flashbang Studios and Infinite Ammo to create wonderful, technically advanced independent games has just been updated to version 2.5! Along with a slew of new features and improvements, the big news is that it is now available for Windows (being previously Mac-exclusive).
Unity features one-click deployment for Windows, Mac, Wii, Web, and iPhone, a great interface, full physics simulation, networking, and pretty much anything else you might need to painlessly make a full fledged, seemingly big budget 3D game. You can freely download a one month free trial of Unity from their website. For free!
Full Version 2.5 feature list here.

Makes me hungry! And here’s an interview with SMB manly men Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, on Destructoid.

Nicalis has updated their website. I like this new screenshot, posted on the blog, which shows off a lot of the new high-resolution sprites, including a close-up portrait of Toroko (the image above is cropped and blown up). It looks very cohesive.
Let’s go a little more video crazy here:
Tormishire is a platformer by the creator of Satan Sam. It’s been in development for at least two years, but no word yet on a release date. (Source: haowan, via the forums)
Fl0wer is the spiritual follow-up to the critically-acclaimed PSN game fl0w. It’s due out on February 12th. (Source: Tim, via IndieGames.com)
Scrap Metal is a 3d, top-down racing game with guns that’s reminiscent of games like Rock n’ Roll Racing (SNES) and Death Rally (PC). This is a short video by the team that explains how tracks are made.
Also, Alec Holowka and his Infinite Ammo team have announced their main project, Marian, which stars a marionette on a quest to discover her true identity. The announcement includes a lovely piece of concept art, as well as a music preview.
Finally, Edmund McMillen’s Super Meat Boy has its own website and is confirmed for the PC and WiiWare. It’s probably a beefed-up (pun intended) version of Edmund’s Meat Boy.
Swords & Soldiers is an upcoming 2d side-scrolling, real-time strategy game for the Wii, from the creators of the original version of de Blob. It’s slated for an early 2009 release.
